Sunday 7th June - West Coast Trojans 22 v 6 Dundee Hurricanes

Trojans Stutter Their Way To 5-0

The Trojans played their 1st home game at Garscube Sports Complex against the Dundee Hurricanes.

This was a game many predicted would be a high scoring win for the Trojans, but come kick off QB Gary McNey declared himself unfit to play and rookie QB Jordan Byrne was under C for his first ever start.

The Trojans would run out 22-6 winners in what was a very frustrating day for the Trojans, this win puts the Trojans at the top of the BAFA NFC DII North and ranked #1 overall in BFaA DivII

1st Quarter: The Trojans started well when they received the opening kickoff and marched 80yds down field to opening the scoring, the D started well turning the ball over a few times but the offence were not making much yards on the ground and little to no through the air.

6-0 Trojans RB Chris Lang 1 yard TD run PAT failed

2ns Quarter: The game was going back and forward, the Trojans actually punted more in this game than the other 4 combined, it was pretty evident that the team were missing the services of QB McNey as they offered little to no passing game, the only spark in the 2nd Q was when FS Andy O’Neill intercepted the QB and took it 94yds for the score, but it was called back for taunting.

Half Time Trojans 6 - 0 Hurricanes

3rd Quarter: The Hurricanes after a recovered fumble added a TD when QB Fraser Thompson hit his TE on 3rd and goal from 3yds out to tie the game 6-6, this sparked the Trojans into action when WR Murray Hogg returned the kickoff all the way for a TE, the D then sacked the QB for a safety and WR Dave Pasnik finished the scoring with a nice reverse for a TD.

6-6 Hurricanes TE TD pass from 3yds PAT blocked
14-6 Trojans WR Murray Hogg kick return from 76yds RB Jordan Falconer tagged in the PAT
22-6 Trojans WR Dave Pasnik with an 18yd rushing TD PAT failed.

4th Quarter: The game fizzled out as a competition with both clubs failing to gain any yardage on the ground leading to the ball changing possession on a few occasions.

Trojans HC Gary McNey commented “We were just not there today, Jordan has not had much time under C and today it showed, credit to Dundee for playing some decent football on defence, but the truth of the matter is we were horrible today and the score line clearly showed that”

“Our discipline let us down today, we had 14 penalties for 125yd and had 3 scores called back for stupid penalties”
