Sunday 12th April - West Coast Trojans 56 v 8 Dundee Hurricanes

 

Trojans Tame The Hurricane

The Trojans ran out 56-8 winners in their opening game of the BAFA 2015 season against their old rivals the Dundee Hurricanes.

1st Quarter - The Trojans stormed in to a 30 point lead with 4TDs and 2 PAT conversions to knock the wind out of the Hurricanes.

8-0 The Defence got the ball rolling when LB Jason Gillespie put a devastating hit on the Hurricanes QH forcing a fumble which LB David Carney scooped up and ran it in for a TD, WR Pasnik Scored the PAT.

16-0 RB Josh Polson carried the ball over from the 5yd line and WR Hogg tagged on the PAT. 24-0 RB Jordan Falconer then ran the ball home from 13yds out this time WR Bleasdale tagged on the PAT 30-0 RB Falconer again added another score this time from 48yds out PAT failed.

2nd Quarter – The Trojans Defence led by 19year old rookie LB Jordan Harvey who finished the game top tackler on Defence and special teams were giving the Hurricanes little to no progress, but the offence for some reason stalled and the scoring dried up in the 2nd Q, WR Hogg thought he had added another 80yd TD reception but the play was called back for offensive holding.

30-8 The Hurricanes got themselves on the score board with a nice deep pass down the far sideline, PAT was good.

3rd Quarter – The Trojans looked to get their scoring form back on the 3rd after a scoreless 2nd period, it was not long before they added a further 3TDs and 1 PAT. The Defence was shutting everythign down and giving the ball back to the offence in great field positioning.

36-8 after the first of 2 interceptions from LB David Carney WR Hogg added a 16yd TD reception from QB McNey PAT Failed. 42-8 RB Falconer scored his3rd TD of the day from 7yds out PAT failed. 50-8 RB Falconer added his 4th and last TD for the day and RB Chris Lang tagged on the 2 PAT.

4th Quarter – The Game had now entered into a running clock and both teams were making sure everyone on the park, the Trojans would add one more score after LB Carneys 2nd interception on the day. WR Hogg thought he has added another score when the returned a punt 80yd but it was again chopped off.

56-8 RB Falconer scored his 5th TD of the day from 13yds out PAT failed.

Trojans HC Gary McNey commented “Other than 1 blown coverage our D were outstanding especially young rookie LB Jordan Harvey who in his first senior league game was top tackler on D and special teams, overall the who D were outstanding”

“The O again fired out the blocks then stuttered in the 2nd Q, but we managed to put 58 points on a strong Dundee team who have come on leaps and bounds since last year”
